Focus on the Roots

When we look around the world for inspiration we see what we see.I am inspired by a great many things in this world; athletes, world leaders, musicians, artists, great structures and inventions and even fictional movie characters.

The hardest part is really, really realizing and being aware of the monumental work that went into the final product of what I see. If there is a challenge to greatness, it is wanting greatness RIGHT NOW. Thinking that one can be an expert without going through the natural process of growth is indeed folly.
Like I mentioned before, movie characters inspire me. I often sit there with my movie popcorn watching a Jedi, William Wallace, Aragon, Maximus and other great heroes from epic films and my mind wanders into a fantasy world and I want to be as great and swashbuckeling as them. Then I pause and think about all the tireless hours of work and training that would have to be done to actually be as great as the character. They don’t show that part in the movies. You only see the beautiful tree full of fruit, not all that hard work, not the ugly, dirty roots, that happen below the ground.

We all can be great in our lives, relationships, work, and health. Just know, accept and enjoy that to become great – it takes hard work, sacrifice and the behind scenes work is not glamorous. Without the roots of a tree there will be no fruit. So begin your journey now to build the roots that will lead to your fruits of greatness!
