Life Lesson #11: Choose meaning over money.
Many people in today’s world decide to go after the money – choosing careers that will pay the most over time. Unfortunately many of those same people 5-10 years down the road are miserable and looking to do something different because their life doesn’t have the meaning they would like it to. I have found that long-term, money will never replace meaning in life.
I believe whole-heartedly in doing work that has meaning. I look at work that has meaning to have 3 main components: 1) Work you are passionate about, 2) Work that you are great at/expert in, 3) Work that is making a difference.
My experience and research of those that choose the path of meaning over money are the ones that are some of the most successful, respected, and happy people on this planet.
