Most Worries are a Waste of Time

“Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy.” ~Leo Buscaglia

One of the main obstacles to success – personally and professionally – is WORRYING about things that really do not deserve your time, energy, and attention. Think of all the times you have sabotaged your success because of your choice to focus on the “Worries” versus the “Winning” in that given situation. Choose to use that energy for things that are helping achieve your goal versus wondering or thinking about what “may” happen. More often than not the “worries” you are having will never come to fruition!

According to one survey, most of us worry about:

Things that never happen = 40%
Things in the past that can’t be changed = 30%
Unnecessary worries about our health = 12%
Miscellaneous worries = 10%

Legitimate worries = 8%

So, 92% of our worries waste our time and energy and cause stress and anguish needlessly!

“The quality of your thinking determines the quality of your life.”

Choose to be thinking and focusing on your vision, hopes, goals – see yourself being successful and doing whatever it takes to be successful. Don’t think about what’s wrong with the situation, focus on what is right, follow your plan and give it your best shot. By focusing on doing your best in a given situation, you will find that your mind stays focused on that versus dabbling into all of the “what-if’s” and worries of the world. Keep your mind so busy with the positive that it doesn’t have a chance to “wander” off into the negative worries of the situation.

Helpful Tip: Worry only exists in the future, it doesn’t exist in the present. So get present and decide to take action towards achieving your desired outcome that may be causing you worry. What one action will lead you towards progress of that goal? What new thing do you need to learn to help you move forward? Who do you need to surround yourself with to help keep you focused on achievement of the goal?

When you stay “in the moment” and are aware of your minds habit of wanting to take you off track, you are much better equipped to handle the worries and choose to not give them the attention you once did.
